General Information
- The FLBP online re-application opens on 1 October. The closing date will be shared on the e-services Government Portal.
- It is compulsory that all re-applications must be done through the e-services Government Portal
- Re-applying doesn’t guarantee re-award. Each year, the committee will re-assess applications and make selections; You must continue to meet FLBP and university requirements to be considered for re-award.
- Selection happens after university registration closes, and only registered students are considered.
- The selection panel includes DBE, Provincial Education Departments, and university officials.
- FLBP bursaries are awarded based on the provinces’ priority subject needs, identified through demand and supply analysis.
- For updates, please check with the coordinator at your university — they’ll have the latest info.
- Remember: apply before the closing date to avoid missing out!
- For payments (allowances, books, accommodation, etc.), contact your FLBP school administrator at your university first — they’ll help before escalating to the DBE.
Placement
- Placement is handled by each province.
- All graduates teaching priority subjects — whether FLBP-funded or not — are considered, as part of the sector’s Employment Equity and Equal Employment Opportunity initiatives.
