Youth aged 18–34 years (you must be 18 when applying and not turn 35 before 31 March 2025).
Living within 5km of the school (or 30km for farm or rural schools).
Only one person per household can be selected.
Must meet the requirements for the category and sub-category applied for.
Not in education, employment, or training (NEET).
Exception: If you’re studying towards a teaching degree via distance or remote learning, you can apply and will be prioritised for placement.
Not studying full-time on campus.
Not receiving any stipend, wage, or salary from another job.
Not receiving any government grants for yourself (e.g. R350 SRD grant).
Not currently in a Learnership.
Not already placed in another Department of Education programme (like EPWP, CWP, LSA, CSA, Food Handler, Bus Controller, or Screener).
No criminal record. You’ll need to apply for a Police Clearance Record (PCR) if invited for an interview.
Not unfairly advantaged due to relationships with school staff (e.g. SMT or SGB).
Youth with disabilities must provide a medical certificate confirming the nature of the disability.
Must have a valid South African ID.
Youth from Phases I–IV may apply again, as long as they meet the Phase V requirements.
Applicants with an NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification will be prioritised.
