Reading routines and preparation

For all reading activities, we following a routine known as BDA:

  • B: Before reading is what we do before we start telling/reading a story. The purpose of this is to interest the listeners/readers and tap into their background knowledge.
  • D: During reading is what we do while we are reading the story/text. We stop now and then to discuss something or ask questions to engage the readers/listeners.
  • A: After reading is what we do after we have finished the story/text. We ask the listeners /readers what they have understood, what their opinions are, and what they liked about the story.
