The Teaching Assistant (TAs)
A special teaching assistant takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart.
- Works under supervision/ guidance of the class teacher and prepares the classroom for learning daily.
- Helps teacher with attendance and administrative tasks.
- Hands out classwork books, learning and teaching support materials (LTSM) for effective teaching and learning.
- Provides additional support at play time after school.
- Asks questions for clarity and respects the teacher’s authority.
- Supports one-to-one teaching support to practise learning.
- In the main the TA learns on the job.
Qualities of a Teaching Assistant

- Listens and offers appropriate support where applicable.
