# How will placements be decided?

![✔](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.1.0/svg/2714.svg) **Schools must recruit from the ranked lists provided by SA Youth (Harambee).** These lists include applicants who applied when the positions were advertised.

![✔](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.1.0/svg/2714.svg) **Placement is for a fixed period only** – there is no expectation of renewal or permanency.

![✔](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.1.0/svg/2714.svg) Assistants **must come from the community** where the school is located before applying. Schools should avoid nepotism.

![✔](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.1.0/svg/2714.svg) The **interviewing panel** will assess the school’s curriculum support, learner support, administration, and facilities maintenance needs when selecting assistants.

 ![🔹](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.1.0/svg/1f539.svg) Female applicants (65% target)
 ![🔹](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.1.0/svg/1f539.svg) People with disabilities (2% target)
 ![🔹](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.1.0/svg/1f539.svg) Teacher graduates with a BEd (NQF 7) for Curriculum Assistant roles
